Wagner in His Own Words

Reading with musical interludes

It is no secret that language was a special obsession for Richard Wagner. The composer saw himself primarily as a poet. Legendary are the readings that Wagner held during the work on his pieces. Wagner’s Saxon compatriot Daniela Victoria Kiesewetter, assistant director and evening performance manager at the Staatsoper Stuttgart, will attempt to approach the true Wagner sound – some dialects are already music. But the focus will also be on his stage festival play Parsifal and – as always with Wagner – the big picture.
