Sheep is grazing on the meadow feeling secure as one sheep amongst many, until the day it befriends Lorenzo, a prince on the run from his obligations as a future king. When Lorenzo tells Sheep that every friend needs to have a name, Sheep decides to venture into the world in search for a name of his own. After many frightening as well as beautiful adventures Sheep returns.

Sophie Kassies' Schaf illustrates in a sensitive and highly poetical way how complicated the process of combining different roles in life for everybody can be: the need to separate and come to terms with being a herd animal and friend as well as an individual.
