I Am Not What I Am
A psychotherapeutic inquiry into identity, manipulation, and perception
The classic tale of Othello (Shakespeare) or Otello (Verdi) serves as a springboard for an exploration of contemporary issues: How is identity constructed – through self-image, external attributions, or digital mirrors? With therapeutic assistance, we take a look into the psyche of the three main characters and create a real-time psychological profile: What fuels Otello’s jealousy? What dilemma does Desdemona face? Is Iago driven purely by evil? And can we still trust the images that flood us daily or the ones we create of ourselves?
